The Baltimore Ravens have reworked Lamar Jackson’s contract a day after signing Trey Hendrickson. According to Adam Schefter, the restructure with Jackson creates about $40 million in salary cap space for the 2026 season.
This move is similar to what the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills did with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, respectively, earlier this offseason. The move allows their teams more cap flexibility ahead of a busy free agency period.
Thanks for the submission!
According to College Sports Network, Lamar Jackson was set to have a cap hit of over $70 million this season. However, the restructured contract now means the two-time MVP will have a cap hit of around $34 million for the Ravens in 2026. It creates nearly $40 million extra in cap space.

Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens are having an eventful offseason
The Baltimore Ravens have been busy with free agency signings and trades this offseason. The franchise is looking to improve its roster to give Lamar Jackson a better chance of making a Super Bowl run.
The Ravens have signed backup quarterback Tyler Huntley to a two-year, $5 million contract and John Simpson to a three-year, $30 million deal. The Ravens also signed a blockbuster deal with former Cincinnati Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson, worth $112 million over four years.
Hendrickson’s deal came just hours after the Ravens’ trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby collapsed. Both teams initially agreed to a trade that saw the Ravens swap two first-round picks for Crosby, but the deal was cancelled after the perennial Pro Bowler failed a physical.
The Ravens have also let a number of players walk in free agency. Here’s a list:
- C Tyler Linderbaum
- CB Chidobe Awuzie
- DE Dre’Mont Jones
- DL Brent Urban
- DL Taven Bryan
- FB Patrick Ricard
- LB Jake Hummel
- LT Joseph Noteboom
- OLB David Ojabo
- OLB Kyle Van Noy
- P Jordan Stout
- RG Daniel Faalele
- S Alohi Gilman
- S Ar’Darius Washington
- TE Charlie Kolar
- TE Isaiah Likely
- WR DeAndre Hopkins
- WR Tylan Wallace
With tens of millions freed up in cap space, the Ravens have the money needed to continue building a contender around their superstar quarterback.
