AEW star Chris Jericho has been absent since April last year. His contract was supposed to end in December. However, his profile remained on the official roster page. Although he was still All Elite, fans expected him to be a part of this year’s Royal Rumble.
Fans now hope that Le Champion will join WWE by WrestleMania 42, but that might not happen. Recent reports claim that the former AEW World Champion’s contract was frozen after he took off for his Fozzy tour. This means his contract will extend as long as he is on hiatus.
According to Fightful.com, Chris Jericho’s deal was frozen as soon as he left the Jacksonville-based promotion. Also, wrestlers aren’t used to restrictive deals nowadays. Therefore, this might lead to issues when signing stars in the future.
Chris Jericho shares a scary story from the past
The Demo God was one of the top heels in WWE. His promos and actions enraged fans.
While speaking on UNTAPPED, Chris Jericho claimed that fans attacked him multiple times during his heel run in WWE.
“But I was really dropping into this character like a method actor, to the point where it was affecting me in real life…. I had this all encompassing evil attitude, and sometimes that rubs off in your real life. But that was years ago. I was fully committed to being this angry person because it’s all acting. You’re playing a character. I love that. I think it’s fascinating. At that point in time, I took it that far. People attacked me on the street a couple of times. I was fine with it then, but I wouldn’t want that now. For whatever reason, I was just super locked in. It was a two year period where I was the champion in the main event, wrestling all the good guys,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what is next for Le Champion.
