Christian Barmore’s lawyer points fingers at ex-GF’s incompetence after domestic violence charges dropped against Patriots’ star after 7 months

New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore appears to have beaten charges of domestic assault and battery. Barmore, who was accused of taking his ex-girlfriend’s phone, throwing it to the floor and grabbing her by the shirt, will not be charged as a result of prosecutors dropping the case due to a lack of evidence.

Barmore’s lawyer, David Meier, had stated the evidence available for the accusation of what took place on Aug. 8, 2025, was insufficient.

“The evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place,” Meier said.

The accuser reported the incident on Aug. 25, 17 days after the alleged incident, according to a Monday AP News report. She had taken a photo of the bruising she alleged was caused by the incident. Meier’s statement suggested the photo was not of good enough quality to cause any action to be taken. Barmore was not arrested as a result of the complaint or the photo at the time.

The report also explained that Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III stated that the plaintiff did not want to “travel out of state for the case,” in the words of the report.

While Christian Barmore appeared to dodge one bullet, the defensive tackle has another problem on his hands. Now out of the frying pan, Barmore will be jumping into the fryer to convince New England to either keep him around long-term on his changing deal or negotiate a more secure one.

According to Spotrac, the new league year is set to trigger a situation that will financially incentivize the Patriots to move on from Barmore with significant cap savings.

If he can keep the New England Patriots satisfied with no status quo change, Barmore will have a role with the team through the 2028 season. However, if he has a disappointing series of practices this offseason, it could be enough for New England to move on.

Over the last two seasons, Barmore has accrued three sacks, which is a significant step back from his 8.5 sacks in 2023.
