NHL Fans on social media were divided as Nathan MacKinnon received a game misconduct during Tuesday’s matchup against the Edmonton Oilers at Ball Arena.
The incident unfolded late in the second period after Nathan MacKinnon barreled into Oilers goalie Connor Ingram while trying to slide the puck into the back of the net from the right circle side. The Avs were trailing 3-2.
In the process, MacKinnon made contact with Ingram, who got shaken up with a cut on his head. Fortunately, Ingram did not suffer a serious injury, as he was able to get up on his own.
Nathan MacKinnon was assessed a five-minute major for goaltender interference before eventually receiving a game misconduct.
One tweeted:
“That was a dirty play by Mackinnon.”

Another chimed in:
“In no world is this a major.”

Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
“Nurse bumps Mack… serious question, how do you even get a 5 for goaltender interference? Let alone something entirely out of his control,” a third fan wrote.
“2 minutes at max, Nurse makes contact with crybaby MacKinnon first. As much as I hate MacKinnon this is bs call,” one opined.
“Needed a mackinnon goal for the parlay and he’s kneeing goalies in the head and getting kicked out wtf,” another chimed in.
“Refs helped the Oilers and Nurse out on this one. That was the worse game misconduct call I’ve ever seen,” added another.
This is a developing story and will be updated after the game ends.
