Al-Ahli fell to a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Al-Qadsiah, missing the chance to move to the top of the Saudi Pro League.
First-half goals from Ivan Toney and Valentin Atangana looked to set the visitors on their way to victory on Friday, but Musab Al Juwayr started the comeback with 27 minutes to go before Turki Al Ammar and Ibrahim Mahnashi both scored in stoppage time.
Al-Ahli went ahead shortly before the half-hour mark through Toney. The English striker picked out the bottom-right corner with a volley after the hosts failed to clear their lines on multiple occasions when facing crosses from both sides.
And then in the 42nd minute, Galeno raced down the left wing and sent a low centre across the six-yard box, where Atangana was on hand to score his fourth league goal of the season.
It was a slow start to the second half, which perhaps favoured Al-Qadsiah as Christopher Bonsu Baah cut the ball back for Al Juwayr to sweep past Edouard Mendy.
Al-Qadsiah grew in confidence and their persistence seemed to pay off in the 92nd minute when Al Ammar converted from Bonsu Baah’s pass, but they were rewarded even further in the 98th minute when Mahnashi poked home from a long throw.
Elsewhere, Al-Ittihad’s miserable title defence continued with a 3-1 defeat to Al-Riyadh.
Despite taking the lead through Youssef En Nesyri, second-half strikes from Leandro Antunes, Toze and Mamadou Sylla saw Al-Riyadh revive their hopes of avoiding relegation this season.

Data Debrief: Al-Qadsiah’s bench does it again
Al-Ahli got too comfortable with their lead and were made to pay in the end. The visitors produced 1.8 expected goals from 12 shots to Al-Qadsiah’s 0.59 from 10 attempts, but their resilience was key to victory.
Brendan Rodgers has not been afraid to call upon his bench this season, and his substitutes worked their magic again. Al Ammar and Mahnashi came off the bench to score; Al Qadsiah have scored seven goals via substitutes in the Saudi League this season, more than any other team.
Al Qadsiah have also won after trailing at half-time at home in the Pro League for the first time since August 2017 against Al Raed (10 games without a win after trailing at half-time).
