Undisputed ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella of Canada and Italy has always been respectful of those who paved the way for him.
Regarded as one of the sharpest technical strikers, the 29-year-old’s skills have often been compared to those of undefeated boxing royalty Terence Crawford.
Speaking to the Bangkok Post’s Nick Atkin in a recent interview, Di Bella revealed he takes great inspiration from the American legend.
“A lot of boxers. A lot of boxing fights. I’m watching Terence Crawford. I’ve been watching Terrence Crawford for a few years now. But Jesse Rodriguez for boxing. I watch so many, even old school boxers. A lot of people, a lot of boxing.”

Jonathan Di Bella is a maestro in the ring, boasting elite timing and a varied clean punch selection.
Moreover, his fight IQ sets him apart from division rivals. The Montreal-based champion won the 2025 ONE Championship Kickboxer of the Year award after massive victories over Thai icons Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Prajanchai PK Saenchai last year.
Aside from his remarkable skills, Di Bella is also a true student of the game. The 125-pound division’s kingpin dives into old footage and classic matchups to gain a better understanding of striking.

Jonathan Di Bella ready to take Rodtang’s place against Takeru
Jonathan Di Bella is still awaiting his next challenge, but is staying ready just in case.
The Italian-Canadian revealed he’d be happy to be a replacement fighter for the upcoming massive rematch between Takeru Segawa and Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the main event of ONE Samurai 1 on April 29.
“Yeah, that would be great. Yeah, I don’t know if he wants to fight anybody else other than Rodtang. I think that would be his last fight. I know Chatri said if it’s 1-1, it would be a third fight. I’m guessing it’s a hard fight to get, but if they offer it [to me], for sure,” he told Nick Atkin.
