The next challenger for MJF’s AEW World Championship has just been confirmed just moments ago on Dynamite. This was determined via a high-stakes bout to begin tonight’s show.
Several individuals have put their names in the hat to challenge Friedman for his world title. The likes of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Brody King, Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, and Andrade El Idolo have all been slugging it out to gain momentum and earn the number one contendership.
The first two stars have already gotten to challenge MJF, and Swerve was next in line. However, the stakes have just been raised as he faced off with Omega in a heated rematch, with not only the number one contenderhip on the line, but also The Cleaner’s role as an AEW EVP.
Similar to their first match, this one was highly physical and well-matched. Neither one of them was giving in to their opponent, and this was a toss-up. This bout saw a lot of nearfalls from both sides, and they showcased great intensity due to the stakes being high.
At one point, it seemed as if Swerve Strickland was going to run away with this, as he connected clean with the House Call and Swerve Stomp. In the end, Kenny Omega was able to brave the storm and hit a One-Winged Angel for the win.
MJF‘s challenger for AEW Dynasty has just been determined, and this is another blockbuster addition to the match card. They will be facing off in Omega’s home country, and this will be their first time facing off since October 2023. They clashed for the world title then, and they will be doing so once more in a few weeks.
It remains to be seen whether the Best Bout Machine will be the one to end MJF’s reign. He’ll have a tall task ahead as the Salt of the Earth has been battle-tested in 2026, and he has survived every challenge thrown at him.
