Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd has been in the spotlight this season, having led the program to its first Final Four appearance in 25 years. Amid Arizona’s stellar March Madness run, Lloyd, in his fifth season with the Wildcats, has been linked with the North Carolina job.
On Tuesday, Lloyd was asked about rumors that he was being targeted by UNC. The Wildcats coach, however, ensured that his focus remains on wanting Arizona to win the national title this season.
“Guys, this team has my full focus,” Lloyd said. “Nothing, nothing, I promise you NOTHING, is knocking me off that path. You might call them ‘distractions,’ but it’s cause you’re distracted. That doesn’t mean I’m distracted.”
North Carolina fired Hubert Davis in March after a first-round exit in this year’s NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels, though, are reportedly still in the process of drawing up their next coaching candidates.
