Recent activity on social media by BTS’ Jungkook created a wide debate. Following the release of BTS’ comeback album ARIRANG the idol has been actively engaging with fan content and challenge videos using tracks from the album. He frequently liked and reposted reels shared by both fans and fellow idols.
Among these interactions, one particular repost involving Jungeun of IZNA became the subject of online debate. A netizen criticized the singer’s use of emojis while reposting the post and pointed to the 10 years age gap between the two idols, describing the interaction as “weird”.
The comment quickly gained traction and led to pushed back from the fans against the criticism. They argued that Jungkook’s activity was consistent with his broader engagement pattern. They noted that he was interacting with numerous ARIRANG-related posts as part of promotional support.
Supporters reiterated that the idol’s actions reflected encouragement toward peers and fans participating in the trend. One fan wrote,
“This is a p***philia mindset, leave Jungkook alone he’s literally just showing support.”
Fans further emphasized that the interaction in question involved a simple emoji reaction and did not imply any deeper intent. Several described the criticism as an overinterpretation of routine social media behavior.
Some also highlighted that not only the singer but other BTS members, including RM and j-hope, also similarly liked content from IZNA members. They urged people to avoid overanalyzing celebrity interactions.
BTS’ Jungkook returns to Instagram as ARIRANG comeback tops charts and world tour plans roll out
BTS’ ‘golden makne’ had deactivated his Instagram account in 2023 before beginning his military service. After completing his enlistment, he made a return to the platform in July 2025 under the new handle @mnijungkook, which he explained as an abbreviation for “My Name Is Jungkook”. Despite sharing only a limited number of posts, the account has rapidly grown in popularity, crossing 17 million followers.
Meanwhile, BTS made a full group return with their fifth studio album ARIRANG, released on March 20, 2026. It was their first group project in nearly four years after completing mandatory military service.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 641,000 album-equivalent units in its opening week. This was the group’s seventh chart-topping album and the biggest first-week total for any group since Billboard began tracking the metric in 2014.
Its lead single Swim also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming BTS’ seventh song to achieve the feat. With this, the group surpassed Bee Gees for the most No. 1 hits by a group.
Following the release, the group is currently preparing for their ARIRANG world tour. The tour will begin on April 9 in South Korea and is set to run through 2026 and 2027. It currently includes 82 shows across 34 cities in Asia, the United States, and Latin America, with additional dates expected to be announced.
