Finn Allen smashes a huge six in 25-run opening over off David Payne in KKR vs SRH IPL 2026 match [Watch]

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Finn Allen was in beast mode in the IPL 2026 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, April 2. The Kiwi batter slammed 24 runs off the five deliveries he faced in the opening over, bowled by David Payne.

Allen slammed his biggest six of the over as Payne bowled a short delivery off the penultimate delivery. The right-hander pulled it high and handsome over mid-wicket deep into the stands. It was the second consecutive six in the first over. The opener also slammed three boundaries off the remaining three deliveries after skipper Ajinkya Rahane stole a single off the first delivery.

During his short stint, Finn Allen slammed 28 runs off seven balls at a strike rate of 400, including two maximums and four boundaries. The 26-year-old was equally impressive against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in KKR’s opening game at Wankhede, hitting 37 off 17 deliveries, comprising two maximums and six fours.

A smart bowling display from Harsh Dubey and Jaydev Unadkat helped SRH remove openers Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane (8 off 10) in the IPL 2026 match. Meanwhile, Eshan Malinga ran out Cameron Green for run-a-ball two.

At the time of writing, the Knight Riders were 74/3 after six overs, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh at the crease.

Asked to bat first, SRH put up 226/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head slammed 48 (21) and 46 (21), respectively. The duo shared an 82-run stand for the opening wicket. Meanwhile, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy also chipped in with 52 (35) and 39 (24), respectively.

Blessing Muzarabani starred with the ball for KKR, returning with figures of 4/41, while Vaibhav Arora bagged two wickets. Anukul Roy and Kartik Tyagi also shared one wicket apiece.
