Manchester United are now determined to get a deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson over the line at the earliest opportunity.
Man Utd planning to sign two new midfielders this summer
There are now doubts surrounding Manuel Ugarte’s future at Old Trafford, with Aston Villa showing interest in the Uruguayan midfielder, and with Casemiro already set to depart, Man United will need to bring in at least two new options in the middle of the park this summer.
That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who said: “Some movements have already started to find solutions. So you can imagine, with Casemiro leaving, Ugarte leaving, with Manchester United probably playing Champions League football, for sure playing European football, it means that United need two more midfielders.”
Anderson has been in the Red Devils’ sights for quite some time, with Romano confirming their interest during the January transfer window, and the Forest star has continued to put in some top performances in the Premier League over the past three months.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, United are now preparing to make an aggressive move for Anderson, in a bid to beat rivals Manchester City to his signature, although it may take an offer in the region of £100m to tempt the Tricky Trees into a sale.
INEOS are planning to get a deal done at the earliest opportunity, with chiefs planning to make a move as soon as the season ends, given that the lofty price tag could become even more inflated if the Englishman impresses at the World Cup.
The 23-year-old may currently be leaning towards a move to City, but if Man United are able to get a deal done, they could be getting their hands on a top midfielder, with the former Newcastle United man averaging 55.7 accurate passes per 90 in the Premier League, which is more than any of Michael Carrick‘s players.

Man Utd eyeing low-cost midfielder alongside Anderson
A deal for Anderson, who has been lauded as “unbelievable” by Kieran Trippier, could break the bank, which means Man United may have to bring in a cheaper midfielder alongside the England international.
The Red Devils have now started work on a deal for Southampton star Shea Charles, who could cost £20m, with the Northern Ireland international putting himself in the shop window after scoring a dramatic late winner against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
