Fans call out Dan Orlovsky for “glazing Ty Simpson like he’s Tom Brady” ahead of 2026 Draft

Ty Simpson will hear his name called at the 2026 NFL draft. However, scouts and analysts aren’t sure about where the Alabama Crimson Tide product will end up.

NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky is convinced that Simpson is a Day 1 pick.

“If (Ty Simpson’s) not a first-round pick tonight, then we are evaluating, in the NFL, the quarterback position wrong.” Orlovsky said on Thursday’s episode of ‘Get Up’.

NFL fans reacted to his comments on X.

A fan said, “Carson is better.”

Another added, “Bro Dan needs to stop glazing Ty like hes Brady.”

One wrote, “No. He’s not a first round talent He’s got a higher ceiling than everyone else outside Mendoza Who also isn’t very good But this is a weak class I do have Steelers taking him though.”

Some fans had choice words for Orlovsky.

One said, “Dan sounds like Mel Kiper talking about Sanders last year.”

Another added, “Omg can this guy go away?????? He is absolutely terrible at his job!”

One chipped in, saying, “lol Dan are you his agent?”

Ty Simpson spent his entire collegiate football career with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The pocket passer spent three years as the team’s backup before ascending to the starting spot in 2025.

Simpson performed admirably in the 2025 campaign, amassing a stat line of 3,567 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He earned second-team All-SEC honors before declaring for the 2026 NFL draft.

Ty Simpson is dividing opinion

Fernando Mendoza is the consensus first pick in this year’s draft. All major mock drafts have the Las Vegas Raiders selecting the Indiana Hoosiers star with pick No. 1, but it gets rather iffy at the quarterback position after.

While Ty Simpson is viewed as the second-best signal caller in his class, some drafts have him off the board in the second round, while others are projecting him in the first.

Tankathon, Yahoo Sports, and CBS Sports see Simpson as an early pick in the second round. Tankathon is projecting him to join the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 34 pick.

However, ESPN threw a curveball into the equation. ESPN’s mock draft has the Cardinals trading into the end of the first round to select Simpson with the No. 30 pick.

The Cardinals let go of Kyler Murray after seven mixed seasons as their starting quarterback. They’ll need a promising young signal-caller to put pressure on Jacoby Brissett in the upcoming campaign.

Simpson knows a thing or two about patiently waiting his turn. He’s a promising quarterback who could grow into a plus starter with the right development.
