Ex-Broncos QB raises question about Mansoor Delane after Chiefs trade up to draft LSU CB with No. 6 pick

Mansoor Delane is going to Western Missouri, but at least one person has concerns about his prospects of succeeding in the pros.

On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs selected the LSU cornerback with the sixth overall pick of the 2026 NFL draft, having moved up three spots with the Cleveland Browns to do so. He is expected to fill the starting spot vacated by multiple-time Super Bowl champion Trent McDuffie, who was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for three draft picks this year and another next year.

As soon as the decision was made, former quarterback Chris Simms, who played for the Denver Broncos in 2009, gave this take on Delane’s potential:

“Best ball skills, best hips of all the CBs. I do question the explosiveness, though.”

Besides the ninth overall pick, the Browns also received third- and fifth-round picks from the Chiefs (Nos. 74 and 148, respectively).
