Alexander Zverev has reportedly unfollowed Carlos Alcaraz on Instagram, and this hasn’t gone down well with the Spaniard’s loyal fans. Zverev, the World No. 3 from Germany, recently finished as runner-up in the men’s singles category at the 2026 Madrid Open, where Alcaraz was absent due to a wrist injury he sustained in action at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona.
On Monday, May 4, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared screenshots that appeared to confirm that Zverev has indeed unfollowed Alcaraz on Instagram.
Thanks for the submission!
Several fans of Carlos Alcaraz subsequently took notice of the post, and they were quick to lash out at Alexander Zverev.
“The rat unfollowed Carlos??? Oh he’s such a bum. Carlos, hit the unfollow button rn. He doesn’t care about you. (Ik Carlos won’t unfollow bc he dgaf) but he needs to stop playing charity and get a damn spine!!!,” one fan wrote.

“Being a people pleaser does nothing for you,” weighed in yet another fan.
“Alexander Zverev has to sweat a lot” – What Carlos Alcaraz said ahead of epic Australian Open 2026 SF against German

Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev share a tremendous amount of mutual respect. Whenever the Spaniard and the German have clashed in the past, they have shared warm embraces at the net upon the conclusions of their battles irrespective of whoever has come out on top.
Ahead of this year’s Australian Open semifinals, Alcaraz, looking forward to facing Zverev, told the media:
“He’s playing really solid and aggressive when he can in the rallies from the baseline. So, I will be ready for sure. I’m excited about playing him here in AO, in a semi-final. So, I know what I have to do and I will be well prepared for that match. And yeah, if he wants to beat me, he has to sweat a lot.”
Alcaraz ultimately came through in a thrilling five-set affair in Melbourne before going on to become the youngest men’s singles tennis player to achieve the career Grand Slam.
