Evidence plays a crucial role in Demonology, since every hunt revolves around discovering the identity of a ghost. Every spirit in the game can be identified using a unique combination of three pieces of Evidence. As of now, there are eight different types of Evidence available in the game, all of which help you to narrow down and identify the 24 ghost types currently present in Demonology.

EMF Level 5
EMF Level 5 is one of the evidences in Demonology that can be detected using the EMF Reader equipment. The device reacts whenever ghosts interact with objects, manifest nearby, or begin a hunt sequence.
To confirm the EMF Level 5 evidence, the final red light on the EMF Reader must illuminate. Once the reader reaches Level 5, you will also hear a distinct high-pitched beeping sound, indicating that the evidence has been successfully detected.
Spirit Box
The Spirit Box allows ghosts to communicate directly with players through the Spirit Box equipment. To successfully obtain this evidence, players must be inside the ghost’s room with the lights turned off while using the device.
If the ghost responds to any of the questions asked through the Spirit Box, you will either hear an audible response or see red captions appear at the bottom of the screen, both of which confirm the evidence. Additionally, the Plushie equipment can be used to guarantee a response whenever it starts levitating.
Handprints
Handprints are another important evidence type that can be uncovered using the Blacklight equipment. Fingerprints or footprints may appear whenever a ghost interacts with objects such as doors, windows, walls, other investigators, or even disturbed lines of salt.
These prints remain visible only for a limited time before disappearing, with the duration depending on the selected difficulty level. You can also use the Salt Canister equipment to spread salt lines across the floor. If the ghost steps on the salt, it will leave behind guaranteed footprints, helping confirm the Handprints evidence more easily.
Freezing Temperatures
Freezing Temperatures can be measured using the Thermometer equipment. If the room temperature drops below 0°C or 32°F, the evidence can be confirmed. Apart from using a Thermometer, players can also identify freezing temperatures through environmental changes. Visible cold breath may appear in the room, the floor can become covered in fog, and nearby windows may freeze and turn foggy. All of these signs count as indicators of Freezing Temperatures evidence.
Ghost Orb
A Ghost Orb is a floating ball-like object that appears inside the ghost’s room. This evidence can only be observed through video-related equipment and cannot be seen directly with the naked eye.
Players can detect Ghost Orbs using the Video Monitor through another investigator wearing a Head-Mounted Camera, by placing a Video Camera in the room, or by directly viewing through the Video Camera itself. Spotting the orb confirms the Ghost Orb evidence.
Ghost Writing
The Ghost Writing evidence can be obtained using the Spirit Book equipment. If the book is placed inside the ghost’s favorite room, the ghost may interact with it and leave writings or scribbles inside the pages.
The evidence is only confirmed once visible scribbles appear in the book. Additionally, Ghost Writing can sometimes be disproven if the ghost throws the Spirit Book outside of a hunt sequence.
It is also worth noting that Ghost Writing is planned to be renamed to “Inscription” in a future update, as ghosts also leave markings on walls apart from writing inside the Spirit Book.
Laser Projector
The Laser Projector is an equipment item in Demonology that emits a grid of light across a room. When a ghost walks near or through the projector’s light, its figure briefly becomes visible, allowing players to confirm the evidence.
To identify this evidence more easily, players are suggested to use a Video Camera while observing the Laser Projector setup, as it makes ghost movements much easier to detect.
Wither
Wither is an evidence type that is recorded when a ghost causes parts of the environment to decay. This can include effects such as metal rusting, paintings becoming distorted, and other visible signs of deterioration around the map.
One of the best ways to confirm this evidence is by using the Flower Pot equipment. If the Flower Pot is placed inside the ghost’s favorite room and the ghost interacts with it, the flower inside will decay and die, confirming the Wither evidence.
