Let’s just get rid of AEW

Following some uncertainty regarding AEW’s future, Stevie Richards has just made a bold claim. He believed that WWE was intentionally spreading fake claims about the situation.

There has been a great discussion about the Jacksonville-based promotion’s TV deal as WBD is set to be acquired by Paramount, which is partnered with TKO. There were even reports that claimed that the promotion was given a notice period to find a new home, and that YouTube could emerge as a potential temporary landing space.

During the latest edition of the Stevie Richards Show, the veteran claimed that WWE was putting out these reports in order to hurt AEW, instead of improving their own product. He also noted how someone like MJF had debunked these recent claims, as he knew Tony Khan had a great relationship with WBD and Paramount and was not worried in the slightest.

“I’m here to tell you that, like what TKO is trying to do by essentially, let’s not even care about putting on a better product that makes more sense, where AAA is actually outshining us. Let’s just get rid of AEW before, or let’s do these back-door things. Let’s, maybe, as MJF, you know, speculated, let’s create the rumors and the speculation that their TV deal is in jeopardy. So we can kind of, I don’t know, like put it out there so maybe it becomes a reality. Put it out in the universe.” [6:10-6:45]

Tony Khan thinks the new partnership will be more favorable to AEW

Despite the recent claims, it seems that Tony Khan is not at all worried about the situation. He mentioned last month how the promotion was doing well with viewership, as they not only had those watching on TV but also on HBO Max. He was also excited about the partnership with Paramount and praised its current leadership.

Fightful has also just noted that as of now, this is still the same case. Despite some other notions, Khan was in favor of this new partnership taking place and believes this will favor AEW.

A number of sources in AEW have claimed that Tony Khan was excited about the possibility of AEW continuing their relationship with WBD(Post Paramount merger), and one said that Khan indicated that it was a favorable option for AEW. For all of the discussion regarding Paramount

The promotion has roughly a year or so left in its current TV deal, so there won’t be any drastic changes anytime soon. Fans should stay tuned for any further developments.
