George Pickens has been wanting a lucrative long-term extension from the Dallas Cowboys ever since his monstrous 2025 debut with them. While it will have to wait this year, he is not totally bothered by it.
During mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, the one-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl receiver said:
Thanks for the submission!
“The game is going to be the game. Money is tagged to it. You just want to do your job to the best of your abilities.”

He also credited the likes of quarterback Dak Prescott with helping to end speculation that he would hold out:

“Like I said, the group of guys that’s with the Cowboys kind of prevents you [from holding out]. If you know guys, and are going to guys’ house[s], you’re talking. I talk to Dak. I’m still throwing with Dak. He’s definitely gonna make you not want to hold out.”
Meanwhile, one person who was elated at seeing Pickens back in practice was running back Javonte Williams, who himself set career-highs in his own 2025 debut with the Cowboys. He said:
“You could hear it at practice when he got a chance to break it down, everybody was cheering. I’m glad to see him back. We know how hard he works. He may not get the rep in the public that we know in the locker room, but we know he’s a great person. We love having him back.”

Coach Brian Schottenheimer also had thoughts to share about George Pickens during his own media availability:
“I had great visits with George, and I’m fired up to have him back. He’s fired up to be here. He’ll do all the mock game, and he’ll do all the individual, but we’ll keep him out of team — just let him watch.”
He continued:
“I know how he feels about this football team, this locker room and what we’re building here. I’m not surprised to see him. … I think he just shows his commitment to the guys in that locker room and helping us win a Super Bowl.”
The Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp runs until Thursday.
