Best types to use in Pokemon Champions (Regulation M-B)

While there are a lot of options in Pokemon Champions, some of them are simply better than others. Additionally, this applies to some Pokemon types as well. While certain Pokemon can be good irrespective of their typing, others are simply better because they can make good use of it. This is because different types not only deal super effective damage, but also provide a lot of defensive capabilities due to their resistances and immunities.

So in this article, we will look at the best types in the game that you can consider recruiting if presented as an option from the ranch, or if you bring a Pokemon over from HOME.

Pokemon Champions: Best types for the Regulation M-B meta

1) Dark-types

Best Pokemon for Champions: Kingambit, Incineroar, Grimmsnarl, and Tyranitar

Super effective against: Ghost and Psychic

Resistances: Ghost and Dark

Weaknesses: Bug, Fairy, and Fighting

Immunities: Psychic

Despite their weakness to the failry common Fairy and Fighting-types, Dark-types are arguably the best type in the Pokemon Champions meta. This is mainly because the typing is a great check for the Ghost-types which can be extremely hard to check otherwise. Additionally, Dark-types are immune to status moves used on them by Pokemon with the Prankster Ability like Whimsicott and Grimmsnarl.

2) Ghost-types

Best Pokemon for Champions: Basculegion♂, Sinistcha, Froslass, Hisuian Zoroark, Gengar, Annihilape, Gholdengo, and Dragapult

Super effective against: Ghost and Psychic

Resistances: Poison and Bug

Weaknesses: Ghost and Dark

Immunities: Normal and Fighting

Ghost-types are the most spammable STAB in Pokemon Champions. While Normal-types are immune to Ghost-type STAB, there are very few viable Normal-types for high level matches. Ironically, one of the best Normal-types in the game, Hisuian Zoroark, is a part Ghost-type itself. Additionally, this means that Ghost-types are immune to Fake Out, a common Normal-type move used to flinch Pokemon on the first turn of a match.

3) Fairy-types

Best Pokemon for Champions: Eternal Flower Floette, Whimsicott, Sylveon, Mega Meganium, and Grimmsnarl

Super effective against: Dark, Dragon, and Fighting

Resistances: Bug, Dark, and Fighting

Weaknesses: Poison and Steel

Immunities: Dragon

Just the presence of Eternal Flower Floette in the game should be enough to earn Fairy a spot on this list, considering it is one of the strongest special attacker in Pokemon Champions. However, Pokemon like Mega Meganium and Sylveon have rose up in usage just because of their ability to deal a lot of special damage.

The latter is worth noting because of its usage of Hyper Beam, a powerful Normal-type move that usually does not see use because it takes a recharge turn after. Thanks to Sylveon’s Ability Pixilate, Hyper Beam becomes a Fairy-type move that also gets a 20% damage boost as well.
