Carmy leaves The Bear. After revealing his decision at the end of season 4, he remains to help Sydney, Richie, Sugar, and the rest of the team complete one final dinner service despite a severe storm, financial pressure, and supply shortages.

The following day, Carmy meets with Uncle Jimmy regarding the restaurant’s future. Jimmy promises to back Ebraheim’s idea of developing the Original Beef sandwich franchise system, and Carmy decides that it will be the best way to bolster the restaurant’s financial situation. Carmy informs Sydney that he believes that the restaurant will survive without his participation as she is prepared to take control of the kitchen.

Then he leaves the world of cooking and takes on an internship in an architectural company in order to transfer the skills that he acquired in cooking there. In the final episode of The Bear season 5, Carmy definitely leaves the restaurant, but Sydney and the other members of the team keep running The Bear.

Did The Bear earn a Michelin star?

One of the central themes throughout The Bear season 5 is whether the establishment gets awarded the Michelin stars before they are forced to shut down due to the pressure on finances.

While the employees are sure that there will be an inspector in their last shift at The Bear, the answer only becomes clear when Carmy receives a phone call from Peter Clark, who used to visit the restaurant some time ago. Clark informs that the restaurant has already received two Michelin stars. Carmy tells Sydney about it, who becomes the new head chef, while Tina is the chef de cuisine now.

The management of The Bear continues to work with Sugar and Richie, and Ebraheim plans to expand the Original Beef sandwiches by franchising them.

What happened to the rest of the team?

The Bear season 5 also ties up the narratives of the other remaining employees at the restaurant. Richie takes up an offer to participate in a hospitality seminar in Japan following the encouragement by Carmy to grab hold of the opportunity. He will be accompanied to the event by Chef Jess, marking the end of their story arc. Marcus remains the head of the pastry program despite Luca’s return to Denmark.

However, the season finale reveals that Marcus and Luca are responsible for the mysterious spoons mentioned repeatedly throughout the season. Sydney is made the leader of the restaurant while Tina serves as chef de cuisine. Uncle Jimmy decides to help Ebraheim with the expansion of the Original Beef sandwich business by means of franchising.

The Bear season 5 closes off with Richie’s daughter having a birthday party at The Bear together with other family members and friends including Claire, Donna, and Uncle Lee. In the last scene of the episode, we see Carmy texting the old phone number of his dead brother Mikey with the message, “All good.”

All five seasons of The Bear and the complete season 5 are now available to stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in select international regions.
