WWE gives a new name to Baron Corbin upon his return

After weeks of speculation, Baron Corbin finally returned to WWE on this week’s SmackDown by taking out Carmelo Hayes and US Champion Trick Williams. Now, the promotion seems to have handed him a new nickname called “Nomad.”

Corbin’s first tenure with WWE ended in 2024 after spending over 12 years in the company. Following this, the 41-year-old began performing under his real name, Bishop Dyer, in MLW. He also made an untelevised appearance in AEW earlier this year, but it didn’t lead to any long-term association with the promotion.

Over the last few weeks, there was plenty of chatter surrounding his return, which he repeatedly downplayed on several occasions. That said, things finally turned true on SmackDown when Corbin showed up to attack Carmelo Hayes while he was at the top rope. The crowd cheered on as he took out both Hayes and Trick Williams, ending their US Title match on an inconclusive note.

Baron Corbin has now firmly established himself as a contender for the gold, and WWE could soon book a triple threat match pitting the three performers on SmackDown. Following the show, the company launched new merchandise for him, which showcases his new nickname, Nomad. Check it out below:

Many big names have left WWE recently

While the consensus towards Corbin’s return is mostly positive, a few surprise exits in recent months have left a sour taste in fans’ mouths.

Beginning with The New Day in May and followed by Sheamus most recently, the sudden departures of such prominent names due to salary issues have given way to backlash against TKO. Apart from them, a highly-rated tag team like Motor City Machine Guns, which signed with WWE after spending years performing across the globe, were also released merely a year into their arrival.

Such decisions are sure to be red flags for up-and-coming talents and even bigger names who have been eying a return to the Stamford-based promotion. That said, it seems like two more stars are nearing their returns to the company. Rumors suggest that Enzo Amore and Big Cass are next in line to make a comeback.
