“Now I’m sad” – WWE superstar Rhea Ripley reacts after watching FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Norway and England

WWE superstar Rhea Ripley reacted after seeing England beat Norway 2-1 in extra time in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in Miami on Saturday (July 11).

In a hard-fought last-eight clash, Andreas Schjelderup opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a wonderful strike in off the woodwork before Jude Bellingham restored parity on the cusp of half-time with an opportunistic finish.

The Vikings had a goal disallowed in the second half due to a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up. With neither team scoring, extra time ensued, where Bellingham pounced on a Orsan Nyland spill to put the Three Lions ahead for the first time.

Striker Haaland was substituted at half-time of the extra period, and the Vikings failed to find an equaliser as Stale Solbakken’s side finished on the losing side in their first-ever World Cup quarter-final. Expressing her disappointment at the end of the Vikings’ memorable campaign, Ripley simply tweeted:

“Welp…now I’m sad.”

The Three Lions next take on holders Argentina in the second semi-final on Wednesday (July 15) in Atlanta, with the holders beating 10-man Switzerland 3-1 in extra time in Kansas City in a later kick-off.

England head coach Thomas Tuchel knows that his team got fortuitous in their come-from-behind win over Stale Solbakken’s Norway in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final in Miami.

The Three Lions were caught unawares for the Vikings’ opener and got lucky not to concede a second due to Erling Haaland’s foul on Elliot Anderson and the ball hitting the woodwork, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford underwhelmed.

“We got lucky,” Tuchel said (as per the BBC). “We made life very, very difficult for ourselves. The result is fantastic. We are in the last four. It’s amazing, but [I am] not happy with the performance – in every sense.

“We made life difficult for us in the way we played and how we played – sloppy, a lot of technical mistakes, not fast enough, not repetitive enough.”

Tuchel’s side have three days to regroup as they take on Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Wednesday for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday (July 19).
