Leaked EA FC 27 Hero and Icon swaps spark outrage among fans

A massive leak regarding EA FC 27 has surfaced online, leading the community to be absolutely outraged by it. If you are a dedicated player of the Ultimate Team mode, this rumor will definitely catch your attention. Recent leaks reveal a highly controversial swap between several legendary players’ UT card rarity. It seems the developers are planning to drastically shake up the roster for the upcoming season.

Leaked EA FC 27 Hero and Icon card swaps aren’t welcomed by fans

According to the recent X post by prominent tipster Fut Sheriff, four specific players are getting promoted to Icon status. Brazilian defenders Lucio and Maicon, alongside French striker Jean Pierre Papin and Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure, would be Icons. However, the leak suggests they would keep their ratings from FC 26.

However, the post also revealed that a bunch of Icons would be downgraded to Hero status that enraged the fans. Six beloved Icons are supposedly dropping into the lower-tier Hero category in FC 27. Strikers Patrick Kluivert and Davor Suker, alongside Italian maestro Gianfranco Zola, midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron, Swedish forward Henrik Larsson, and Mexican legend Luis Hernandez would now be Heroes in Ultimate Team.

For those who are unaware of Ultimate Team card rarities, Icon cards represent the pinnacle of historical football greatness while Hero cards celebrate league-specific cult favorites. Upgrading to an Icon gives players better chemistry links across all leagues. Dropping to a Hero restricts those chemistry benefits to a single specific league. This would have a major impact when it comes to squad building.

The EA FC fans didn’t like the changes leaked by Fut Sheriff. Many claimed that promoting Papin to an Icon feels out of place. Meanwhile, others are furious that football legends like Zola and Kluivert are losing their prestigious status while former Serie A star Maicon gets an upgrade. The community broadly expressed that Suker deserved his Icon rarity.

Some players are threatening to quit EA FC 27 entirely over these roster alterations. The fans feel that EA Sports is stripping prestige from legendary player items while elevating less deserving ones. Some fans argued there is no point in having Heroes if these swaps happen. EA Sports hasn’t yet officially revealed any EA FC 27 player ratings, so it is best to take these leaks with skepticism.
