Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Robin Uthappa has picked his all-time India Test XI, including current vice-captain KL Rahul over Gautam Gambhir. His selection comes ahead of India’s two-match away Test series against Sri Lanka, which is set to begin on August 15 at the Galle International Stadium.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, the 40-year-old picked Virender Sehwag as the opener ahead of Sunil Gavaskar and paired him with KL Rahul. At No. 3, he went with Rahul Dravid, with Cheteshwar Pujara missing out, followed by Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
Uthappa named MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper, leaving out Rishabh Pant, and placed former seam-bowling all-rounder Kapil Dev at No. 7. He then selected Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Harbhajan Singh and Jasprit Bumrah over Mohammed Shami, while the final two spots went to Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble.

KL Rahul is leading India in the warm-up game against SLC XI
Team India are currently involved in a three-day warm-up game against Sri Lanka XI, which got underway on Friday, August 7. Vice-captain KL Rahul is leading the visitors, with regular skipper Shubman Gill unavailable for the opening day.
Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during India’s practice session on Thursday, August 6, and has been rested on Day 1 as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, his Gujarat Titans (GT) teammate Sai Sudharsan, who is also recovering from a toe injury, is yet to join the squad in the island nation.
Rahul is no stranger to the leadership role, having previously captained India in three Tests, winning two and losing one. Overall, the opener has featured in 68 Tests, scoring 4,153 runs across 119 innings at an average of 36.42, including 20 fifties and 12 centuries.
