BANGKOK, Thailand — The Asian Volleyball Confederation’s (AVC) five Zonal Associations convened separate regional meetings on Friday to discuss development priorities, address regional challenges, and strengthen collaboration as the Confederation continues to advance volleyball across Asia and Oceania.
Held during the 26th AVC General Assembly in Bangkok, the meetings brought together leaders from the Central Asia Volleyball Association (CAVA), East Asian Volleyball Association (EAVA), Oceania Zonal Volleyball Association (OZVA), Southeast Asia Volleyball Association (SEAVA), and West Asia Volleyball Association (WAVA) to review progress within their respective regions and identify how each zone can further contribute to the AVC’s long-term strategic objectives.
Discussions focused on the continued development of National Federations, the growth of competitions, athlete and officials’ development, governance initiatives, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation among the five zones. The meetings also provided a platform for regional leaders to exchange best practices and address the unique opportunities and challenges facing volleyball across Asia and Oceania.
AVC President Ramon Suzara emphasized that strong regional representation remains fundamental to the Confederation’s continued progress.
“Representation is key to the continued success of the AVC. Each zone understands the needs of its National Federations and plays a vital role in shaping the future of our sport. It is encouraging to see the significant progress being made across all five regions, and by working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another, every zone can make an even greater contribution to the continued growth of Asian volleyball,” Suzara said.
The zonal meetings form an integral part of the AVC’s governance framework, ensuring that regional perspectives are reflected in the Confederation’s strategic planning and decision-making process.
Recommendations and key priorities raised during the meetings will be carried forward to the deliberations of the 26th AVC General Assembly, where delegates from across the continent will discuss initiatives aimed at further strengthening the governance, development, and future of volleyball in Asia and Oceania.
