TIANJIN, China — Asian Volleyball Confederation President Ramon Suzara joined Tianjin University of Sport (TJUS) officials in formalizing a five-year Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement aimed at strengthening talent development, scientific research, professional education and innovation in volleyball across Asia.
The partnership brings together AVC’s continental network and leadership in Asian volleyball with TJUS’s academic expertise, technology and high-performance facilities, establishing a platform in Tianjin for training, research and knowledge exchange serving AVC member associations.
Suzara said the agreement reflects AVC’s commitment to creating stronger development pathways by connecting volleyball with education, science and technology.
“Asia has tremendous volleyball talent, and our responsibility is to provide the environment, knowledge and opportunities that will allow that talent to reach its full potential,” Suzara said. “This partnership with Tianjin University of Sport brings together high-performance training, education, sports science and innovation in one platform that can benefit athletes, coaches, referees and administrators throughout our member associations.”
Under the agreement, AVC and TJUS will collaborate on talent cultivation and professional training, including specialized undergraduate, graduate and short-term educational programs. The partnership will also support international training camps for athletes, coaches, referees and sports administrators from AVC member associations.
Scientific research will form another key pillar of the cooperation, with the two organizations working together on international academic conferences and research in areas including sports science, training methodologies and injury rehabilitation.
The partnership will also promote cultural exchange and the sharing of volleyball knowledge and expertise among Asian nations, supporting mutual learning and the continued development of the sport throughout the region.
Tianjin University of Sport, located in Tuanbo New City, provides a high-performance environment equipped to support national teams and AVC member associations. Its facilities include competition-grade volleyball courts with specialized Gerflor flooring meeting FIVB competition standards, modern accommodation, fitness centers, sports rehabilitation spaces and dedicated academic facilities.
Technology will also play an important role in the partnership. TJUS utilizes Volleypulse, an AI-driven performance system designed to support practitioners, coaches and athletes through tactical analysis and training insights.
The university’s modern campus and comprehensive athlete support facilities will provide an environment for teams and individuals to focus on training, recovery, education and professional development.
“This partnership combines TJUS’s rich academic, technological, and facility advantages with AVC’s vision for Asian volleyball,” representatives said. “Together, we are setting a new standard for athlete preparation and sports science integration.”
