Chelsea wage bill for 2026/27 season

Things have been a bit bonkers at Chelsea since Todd Boehly‘s mega-money takeover back in 2022, but are the Blues finally back on track again this season?

With Xabi Alonso installed as manager over the summer, the west London side look like a serious outfit again, potentially even ready to challenge at the Premier League summit.

Gone are the days of signing mere teenagers and project players, with there now an experienced core for the Spaniard to build around at Stamford Bridge.

Such additions don’t come cheap, however, so how does their wage bill look in the new era? We’ve identified the top earners and then put together a list of how much every player at Chelsea is earning.

The woes of Robert Sanchez are no longer, with the Blues making a surprise late move to sign Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez on a £7m deal, the veteran set to earn roughly £175k-per-week at the Bridge.

He’s a maverick, no doubt about it, but the Argentine has proven himself to be a man for the big occasion, as his prior World Cup heroics have showcased.

Martinez, at 33, isn’t necessarily a long-term fit, but the Blues’ goalkeeping department is, quite literally, in safe hands with Mike Penders and Gabriel Slonina in reserve.

Captain Reece James, if he can still be considered a defender, tops the list here and deservedly so, the England star having been a mainstay in a turbulent period for the west London side.

Defending for James, and Alonso’s side as a whole, doesn’t appear to be the primary concern, such is Chelsea’s attacking firepower, although in £52m signing, Maxence Lacroix, the Blues do have a real leader again at the heart of the backline.

With the likes of Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill and young Josh Achaempong also in the mix, the shift to a back three under Alonso looks set to prove fruitful.

Chelsea midfielder salaries

Caicedo-Chelsea

The £125m sale of Enzo Fernandez has left Alonso’s midfield department looking a little bare, it must be said, with a late move for Monaco’s Lamine Camara failing to get off the ground.

Thankfully, in Moises Caicedo, the Blues arguably have one of the best midfielders in the league, the £180k-per-week sensation doing the work of two men at times.

The Ecuadorian will be aided by Romeo Lavia and World Cup villain, Valentin Barco, too, while the ageing Jordan Henderson will offer some much-needed experience in the centre of the park.

Chelsea forward salariesChelsea's Joao Pedro celebrates scoring their fourth goal

Is there a better, more exciting forward line in the Premier League right now than that of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers?

The expensively assembled trio look like such an upgrade on recent attacking configurations at Stamford Bridge, the club notably shifting the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson over the summer.

That has helped to trim the wage bill somewhat, while recruiting the wise old head of Danny Welbeck, set to earn £60k-per-week, already looks like a potential masterstroke.
