Fans Draw Hilarious GTA 6 Comparisons After a Whooping 79 Players Land on Injury Report

One week into the 2026-27 NBA season, multiple All-Stars and role players have sustained injuries and are expected to miss games.

According to NBA journalist Keerthika Uthayakumar, 79 players are listed on Wednesday’s 2:30 p.m. injury report for the 12-game slate. Notable names include Toronto Raptors’ Kawhi Leonard (knee), Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards (knee), OKC Thunder’s Jalen Williams (ankle) and Orlando Magic’s Paolo Banchero (ankle).

Many social media users reacted to the news, with several jokingly saying the injuries are linked to the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI. Some also mentioned Houston Rockets center Steven Adams, who previously mentioned the widely popular game.

“Steven Adams told us LOL,” one fan tweeted.

“NBA Players all ‘injured’ before GTA 6 drops,” another fan wrote.

Here are other reactions:

“Whole league tryna be at home for GTA 6, they can’t fool me,” one fan commented.

“Steven Adams was right all along LMAO,” another fan wrote.

“Steven Adams is looking a h*lluva lot like Nostradamus right now,” a fan said.

“Don’t bet on the young players at all for 2 weeks, (especially) if they got no family,” another user tweeted.

During the Rockets’ media day on Sept. 22, Adams joked about the anticipation for GTA VI:

“I will say, you guys should anticipate November, the performance of the (league). GTA is dropping. So look at the NFL, look at all the leagues and watch them plummet, mate. Just for the month of November, performance is gonna go down. It should come back up, though. Most of the boys will get it done, but hopefully they finish the game.”

According to Rockstar Games, GTA VI’s official release is scheduled for Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X and S.
