AEW star Jeff Jarrett is set to play a major part in a top promotion outside of pro wrestling. He has been one of the top names in the business for several decades. Apart from his TNA run, he has some minor accolades in his in-ring career. However, he is a creative mind who has contributed to the sport from behind the curtain.
The 58-year-old star has been part of AEW for the past few years. He served as the company’s Director of Business Development. However, it seems he no longer holds the position. In January, reports claimed that Double J is listed as a talent. Also, he hasn’t been seen in the ring since January 2025. Death Riders wrote him off TV after the veteran teased his retirement tour.
Interestingly, it seems like Jeff Jarrett has other plans. An official announcement was made regarding his future. In an official press release, Jeff Fisher revealed that Double J will be the Managing Partner and Co-Owner of the Nashville Kats football team.
“We are so excited to have Jeff Jarrett play a lead role in our franchise management team on a variety of levels. Obviously, he is among the best in any business at promotions and marketing and all the components that come with that. Jeff’s impact on the Kats will be immeasurable, and his leadership and experiences are invaluable resources,” Fisher said. [H/T – Ringside News]
Jeff Jarrett’s AEW retirement tour was scrapped
At the start of 2025, Double J claimed that he would hang up his boots last year after a retirement tour. One of his goals was to take the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley. This storyline received widespread criticism on social media. However, after losing a match against Claudio Castagnoli, he was nowhere to be seen.
According to Fightful.com, Jeff Jarrett’s retirement tour was scrapped as the angle wasn’t working out for the promotion.
It will be interesting to see what is next for the AEW legend.
