Dual ParaVolley Coaching Course Kicks Off in Solomon Islands < World ParaVolleyWorld ParaVolley

World ParaVolley is proud to announce the successful start of a landmark dual Level 1 coaching course in the Solomon Islands, combining both Sitting Volleyball and Beach ParaVolley (standing) for the very first time.

Taking place in Honiara in partnership with the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC), the course brings together 8 coaches from 6 Pacific nations, marking a significant step forward in developing coaching capacity across the region.

This innovative dual certification programme begins with the Sitting Volleyball Level 1 practical course, followed immediately by the inaugural Beach ParaVolley Level 1 coaching pilot, offering participants a unique opportunity to gain expertise across both indoor and outdoor ParaVolley disciplines.

By aligning the two courses, World ParaVolley aims to maximise regional impact and equip coaches with the tools needed to grow the sport sustainably within their home nations.

World ParaVolley representative Matt Rogers said:

“We are really pleased to see everything come together in this first dual certification course. Combining our Level 1 Sitting Volleyball course with the new Beach ParaVolley means that coaches from across the Pacific will become up-skilled and empowered to return to their home countries and launch development programmes that lead towards international competition in both sports. A massive thank you must go to Aaron Alsop, instigator and Coach Tutor for the courses, and for Weiping Tu for attending on behalf of PVAO.”

The courses are led by experienced Coach Tutor Aaron Alsop, with support from Weiping Tu, Technical Delegate of the 2026 World Championships, reinforcing the strong collaboration across the ParaVolley community.

This milestone initiative reflects World ParaVolley’s continued commitment to expanding inclusive sport opportunities, strengthening grassroots development, and building clear pathways from participation to performance across all regions.

With both courses now underway, the Solomon Islands becomes a key hub for ParaVolley development in the Pacific, and the first to host coaches gaining dual certification in both disciplines.
