“Holding this team back” – Fans make claim as Al-Nassr seal comfortable 5-0 win over Al-Khaleej in Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence

Al-Nassr fans have shared their thoughts after their side claimed a 5-0 win over Al-Khaleej in the absence of the injured Cristiano Ronaldo. The Knights of Najd took full advantage of a slip from rivals Al-Ahli to go three points clear atop the standings.

Club captain Ronaldo was absent for a second game, having also missed their 1-0 win over Neom SC last weekend with a hamstring problem. Manager Jorge Jesus decided to trust Abdullah Al-Hamdan, a mid-season acquisition, to continue to lead the line for his side in Ronaldo’s absence.

Al-Nassr made light work of Al-Khaleej, putting five unanswered goals past them in front of their fans in Dammam. Some fans of the Knights of Najd were pleased with the display of their side, something they attributed to the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. A number of these fans took to X to make their claims about the team’s performance in the game.

One fan accused Cristiano Ronaldo of holding the team back.

Another fan alleged that the 41-year-old will be unhappy to see his team perform so well without him.

A fan claimed that the team is better without the Portuguese great.

Another fan pushed for Ronaldo to leave the club after seeing the side play better without him.

A fan pointed out that Al-Nassr were doing very well without their talisman.

Al-Nassr have recorded a pair of wins and clean sheets since Ronaldo suffered his hamstring injury last month. The Real Madrid legend is expected to return to contention to feature against Al-Najma when his side returns to league action after the March international break.

No Cristiano Ronaldo, no problem for five-star Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence was no problem for Al-Nassr as they put five past Al-Khaleej to remain top of the Saudi Pro League standings. The Knights of Najd took full advantage of a slip from Al-Ahli to open up a three-point lead at the summit of the standings.

Abdullah Al-Hamdan opened the scoring for Jorge Jesus’ side in the 31st minute with his second league goal for the club. They had to wait until the 54th minute for a second goal, as Ayman Yahya found the back of the net.

Joao Felix scored twice in six minutes, ending a 15-game goal drought, to put his side 4-0 up in the 73rd and 79th minutes. Brazilian youngster Angelo Gabriel added his name to the scoresheet in stoppage time to round off a convincing victory for Al-Nassr.
