Huge announcement made on Jon Moxley’s future outside of AEW

The current AEW Continental Champion, Jon Moxley has been officially announced for a major match outside Tony Khan’s promotion. The Death Riders’ leader will be teaming with his stablemates for the big match.

Aside from being one of the top stars in AEW, Jon Moxley often makes appearances and performs on the independent wrestling scene and other top promotions like NJPW and CMLL. Meanwhile, the Death Riders’ leader is slated for his return to the historic Arena Mexico later this month for a huge match.

On behalf of himself, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia of the Death Riders, Moxley challenged the CMLL stars, Mistico (fka Sin Cara), Mascara Dorada, and NEON of El Sky Team for the CMLL World Trios titles for a major show in Arena Mexico on March 20. The official X handle of Lucha Libre CMLL made the match official with the following statement:

Jon Moxley declared his rival as the best guy in AEW

This Sunday at Revolution 2026, Jon Moxley will defend his Continental Championship against Konosuke Takeshita. Their last match at the Grand Slam Australia event ended in a time-limit draw, so the rematch will have no time limit.

Ahead of his big title defense, Moxley offered high praise for his Revolution opponent, Takeshita, saying The Alpha might be the best guy in AEW:

“No, he’s very, very good. Takeshita is goddamn good. They say this all the time…that I’m a hard guy to impress. I don’t think that’s true. I think that a lot of people are totally delusional about what should be impressive. Takeshita, especially over the last year or two, has impressed me a great deal. I think probably Takeshita might be the best guy in AEW,” said Mox.

It remains to be seen who walks out of Revolution 2026 as the Continental Champion.
