Kenny Omega highlights turning point for AEW

Kenny Omega has been a big part of AEW since the company’s inception. He has now pointed out a major turning point for the company.

AEW has come a long way since the promotion’s launch in 2019. Tony Khan wasted no opportunity in growing the roster to include stars from all over the world. Another big strategic move that Tony made was by forming partnerships with other wrestling promotions, such as NJPW and CMLL. Several years later, Omega has opened up on what these partnerships meant for the company.

During an interview with Undisputed, the AEW EVP said that the company’s partnership with NJPW and CMLL allowed the opportunity for American fans to be exposed to different styles of professional wrestling from around the world.

“There were a lot of great steps along the way,” Omega said. “One that really sticks out is when we reached a point where we had an official partnership with New Japan and CMLL, and we were willing, able, and eager to show the various professional wrestling styles of the world to our American fans an international fans. That was a main goal for me. I wanted people to experience all the different types of professional wrestling. [H/T Undisputed]

The AEW roster boasts some of the most talented individuals who are all passionate about delivering the best product possible. This is also something that has been evident in the current product.

During the same interview, Kenny Omega noted that the roster’s dedication is what has kept Tony Khan’s company in the conversation of the best professional wrestling company in the world.

“Very rarely did I feel like we took steps backward. You take pride in your work, so when we did, those were crushing. Not everything works, but wrestling has a circular momentum. So when something didn’t work out, we have the roster to turn it around. That’s the case now more than ever. This is a roster with a dedication to the art and sport of wrestling.
