Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has jumped to the defence of Liam Rosenior following criticism. The Frenchman believes that the manager is a top coach and is talented enough to guide the team.
Speaking to the media while on national duty, Gusto said that he does not understand why Rosenior has been criticised a lot in the media. He admitted that the coach is learning on the job as he is still young and said:
Thanks for the submission!
“I think he [Rosenior] is a top coach, I saw that a lot of people criticised him. Not really understanding why he is being criticised so much, I have worked with him a lot since he joined Chelsea. I think he is a top person first of all, a top manager as well and as you say, he is young. He is a lot of things for the future, but if he is the Chelsea manager it is because he has the talent for this.”
Gusto added that the players have to believe in the manager’s plans and tactics. He claimed that Rosenior is honest with the players and pushes players to do their best on the pitch.
“As I said before, for us as a team, we have to believe in him, believe in the way we play, to stick to our plan and see how it goes. He is a good person, he is really honest, really simple, you can see that he is really passionate. He wants to share it with us his passion for football and I feel like I want to play for him, I want to show my best when he puts me on the pitch.” (via Tribuna)
Chelsea have lost their last four matches in all competitions and are out of the UEFA Champions League. They are sixth in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on top five this season.
Chelsea star questioned the exit of Enzo Maresca
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez questioned the exit of Enzo Maresca, adding that they had a clear identity under the manager. He added that it is still unclear if the decision was good or bad, but it cut short everything they had planned and said:
“Obviously, it was a departure that hurt a lot because we had a lot of identity, he gave us order but it’s the way that football is, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. But we always had a clear identity when it came to training, playing and obviously his departure hurt us especially in the middle of the season – it cuts everything short.” (via GOAL)
Enzo Maresca left his role at Chelsea on New Year’s Day following issues behind the scenes with the club hierarchy.
