AEW star Ricochet recently got embroiled in an online controversy, which has resulted in him and his wife receiving d*ath threats for his despicable actions.
The last few days have been a bane in the existence of former AEW National Champion, Ricochet. It started with Rico losing his title at Revolution 2026 last weekend in a 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal to Jack Perry. A frustrated Rico was then seen backstage lamenting about his loss, a clip of which was shared by AEW on X. An elderly female fan then replied to the post, stating that the One and Only hasn’t improved his acting skills. The comment seemingly got on the Future of Flight’s nerves, who replied, mocking the fan’s illness. The fan suffered from multiple sclerosis.
Rico’s despicable comment didn’t go unnoticed as angry fans erupted on X, raining down on the One and Only and even calling for Tony Khan to immediately fire him. Unfortunately, the backlash hasn’t stopped, and now even his wife and ex-WWE announcer Samantha Irvin was roped in, as she stated the couple was receiving d*ath threats for the 37-year-old’s actions. It is worth noting that Rico has since apologized for his comments.
Ricochet was snubbed on AEW Dynamite
In the immediate aftermath of his controversial X post, Ricochet was missing from the Dynamite episode that followed Revolution 2026. Moreover, the One and Only received no recognition in this week’s promotion on the flagship show. This was clear when the show’s commentators discussed Jack Perry becoming the new National Champion but did not mention the Future of Flight in the context of his status as the former champion. It all seemed like Rico was being deliberately snubbed on Dynamite.
Given the severity of his controversy, it will be interesting to see if the Future of Flight has any future in Tony Khan’s promotion.
