The relatively new WWE regime has faced immense criticism from the fanbase over the last few years over the handling of what many believe is the greatest women’s division that the company has ever seen. It looks like things are going on the right track now, as new reports suggest huge plans for the division at WrestleMania 42.
WrestleMania 42 is no longer a “get everybody on the card” show that it was a few years ago, when the runtime kept expanding to exhausting levels. However, the two-night format has done wonders as it allows for a natural pacing of the show that doesn’t burn fans out, while also giving the opportunity for several deserving stars to get on the card. For the women, it would be even harder to come by, as there were the usual marquee title matches, as well as the Tag Team Title match. That would normally make up three matches on the card, with the last few editions of WrestleMania fluctuating between three and four women’s matches overall.
Thanks for the submission!
Now, in a huge new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE is reportedly planning to have a whopping six women’s matches at WrestleMania 42 this year. And in a positive follow-up, it was stated that atleast five of these matches have been “firmly” planned – which means they are almost guaranteed to happen. Six women’s matches at WrestleMania 42 would be a new record for WWE, and the odds of fan backlash are virtually zero.
Evolution was the best WWE PLE of 2025, according to many fans
The all-women’s PPV/PLE, Evolution, made a comeback after nearly eight years in 2025. With a somewhat smaller venue and extremely affordable ticket prices, it attracted a more hardcore WWE fanbase, who let their voices be heard in a huge way.
The result of it was that we got what fans considered the best Premium Live Event of the year by far for WWE, as well as a confirmation of why fans were clamoring for the return of Evolution in the first place. There is no denying that the women’s division has made massive progress over the years, but to see the magic they could put out when given their own platform only confirms that the decision to heavily push women’s wrestling was the correct one. It took several years to materialize, and the division was quite different from the first version of Evolution in 2018.
Headlined by Rhea Ripley vs Iyo Sky for the Women’s World Title, the show ended with Naomi‘s now-iconic Money in the Bank cash-in and the culmination of her epic journey back to the big time. Fans will be hoping that the division gets another chance with Evolution 3 in 2026.
