The U.S. men’s national team became the second nation to secure a spot in the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup — and it has captured first place in Group D.
Despite losing to Türkiye, the USA’s fate for the round of 32 is still set after winning Group D. Next for the Americans is a matchup against Bosnia and Herzegovina next Wednesday night in the San Francisco Bay Area (kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on FOX and streaming on FOX One).

Mexico won to get to a 3-0-0 record, but the shocker came from South Africa’s win over South Korea. The result gave Bafana Bafana the second-place berth in the group, while South Korea now has to wait until Saturday to see if it will make it through to the round of 32.

Switzerland advanced to the round of 32 as the winner of Group B with a 2-1 win over Canada on Wednesday at BC Place Vancouver. Canada advanced as the runner-up with four points. Bosnia and Herzegovina — which, after a 3-1 win against Qatar, also ended group play with four points but trailed Canada in goal difference — is also through to the knockout stage as one of the top-eight third-place teams.
Brazil and Morocco both ended group play with seven points and advanced, but it was Brazil that advanced to the round of 32 as the winners of Group C due to goal difference. Brazil scored three goals against Scotland while only conceding one goal throughout the entire group stage. Morocco scored four against Haiti but conceded two.
Scotland was eliminated from the tournament after failing to score a goal against Brazil. Haiti had already been eliminated from advancing entering its final match day.
The USA vs. Türkiye match on Thursday night meant nothing to the group table. The USA had already won the group, which meant its 3-2 defeat did not affect its standing for the round of 32.
Paraguay and Australia played to a 0-0 draw, so the Socceroos advanced as the second-place team thanks to its superior goal difference. Paraguay is on four points and fourth in the third-place table, and it could possibly clinch its spot in the round of 32 if results go its way over the next two match days.

Germany won Group E, but it lost its final group-stage match to Ecuador in a result that had huge implications. Ecuador advanced to the round of 32 with the victory, which put it on top of the standings for teams that finished third place in their group.
The Ivory Coast finished its group-stage matches with Nicolas Pépé scoring twice to beat Curaçao. That win meant the Ivory Coast finished second.Â

The Netherlands will top Group F thanks to a convincing 3-1 win over Tunisia. The Dutch beat both Sweden and the Tunisians after a 2-2 draw against Japan in their first game. Now, the Netherlands will play Morocco in the round of 32.
Japan finished second in this group on five points with a win over Tunisia and draws against the Netherlands and Sweden. Japan’s prize for finishing second is a matchup against Brazil in the round of 32.
Sweden has also qualified for the round of 32 with its draw against Japan, which put it at the top of the third-place standings.

Egypt is heading to the round of 32 but won’t know its spot until after its match against Iran. Belgium and Iran currently hold two points. Belgium faces New Zealand on this group’s final match day and will need a win to feel comfortable with its chances of advancing to the round of 32.

Spain sealed its spot atop this group with a 1-0 win over Uruguay that ended with a red card for the South American side. Spain will face the Group J runner-up, which will be either Austria or Algeria.
Uruguay needed a draw or win against Spain to advance and was in control of its own destiny. Instead, the loss means the two-time champions will be heading home. The loss also meant Cape Verde advanced with just a draw against Saudi Arabia, its third straight stalemate.

France beat a Norway team that rotated its starting lineup heavily, which means Les Bleus has won Group I. France will face more than likely face Sweden in the next round, while Norway, which finished second, will take on the Ivory Coast.
Senegal took a positive step toward qualification with a 5-0 win over Iraq. Senegal is now fifth in the third-place standings and will be sweating other results to see if it progresses.

Argentina secured passage to the round of 32 with its 2-0 win over Austria, and then Algeria’s win over Jordan meant the reigning champions have won the group. Lionel Messi’s record-breaking goals secured the win in style. He has now scored the most goals in World Cup history and already has five in two games at this tournament.
On the final match day in this group, Algeria face Austria. There’s a chance both teams advance, but a win from either team would secure passage to the round of 32.
Entering the final match day, Portugal advanced on Friday night. After Cape Verde finished second in Group H with three points, all teams with four points clinched a spot in the knockouts.
Portugal still needs to win its Group K finale against Colombia if it wants to win the group. Colombia will win the group if it avoids defeat.
DR Congo’s situation is easy: If it beats Uzbekistan, it will advance to the knockout stage.

England was held to a draw against Ghana, while Croatia got a hugely necessary win over Panama, which has been disqualified from advancing.
England and Ghana are level on four points entering the final match day. The Three Lions will face Panama, while Ghana will take on Croatia. England has the edge right now with a better goal difference, so it sits atop the group.
