3 Ways Conor McGregor can debut in WWE

One of UFC’s biggest superstars, Conor McGregor, stepped inside the octagon after a five-year hiatus earlier this month in the main event for the UFC 329 event against Max Holloway. A large section of fans believed that The Notorious One was locked in and on the verge of making a shocking comeback with a spectacular vintage McGregor performance, which never happened.

In the main event, McGregor took his classic run and wanted to start the bout in his signature way of kicking his opponent. However, The Notorious threw a jumping switch kick and overextended himself, which caused him to land awkwardly on his right leg, and he immediately felt something was wrong.

McGregor tried to go for a punch, but he fell short. Holloway noticed it and tried to convey the same to the referee, but still followed up with some ground and pound on McGregor. As The Notorious got up and tried to throw another move, he twitched in pain, and the referee stopped the match, announcing Max as the winner via TKO.

Many feel that the former Lightweight Champion is beyond his prime, and he should not return to the octagon, given that his last two fights ended with him injuring himself. Some even suggested that, given that Conor McGregor brings a massive number of views, TKO Group could use Conor in WWE.

The UFC two-division champion has had issues with WWE stars in the past. He even took shots at Roman Reigns recently, asking who he was during his UFC White House appearance.

Blue Brand’s General Manager Nick Aldis is all set to make his WWE in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2026 against Gunther, which hints at his reign as SmackDown’s GM ending and his journey as a professional wrestler in the World Wrestling Entertainment starting.

If Aldis does want this transition to be a full-time thing, the Stamford-based promotion would indeed need a new Friday Night SmackDown General Manager.

Recently, Conor McGregor took to his official X/Twitter account, revealing he suffered a torn ACL and torn meniscus in his right knee, which would keep him out of action for at least a year. Meanwhile, he could still draw numbers for TKO by crossing over to WWE and acting as the SmackDown General Manager.

Imagine McGregor as SmackDown GM; how chaotic it would be, where he would trash talk to the stars and book them in matches.

The Rock’s The Final Boss gimmick worked well, and to this day, fans ask him to complete his saga. Due to his other commitments beyond WWE, even if he returns, it would be for a singles match, either with Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns.

To fix this issue permanently, TKO Group may replace The Rock with another top name from their organization: UFC megastar Conor McGregor.

The Notorious has the same aura that lets him stand in the middle of the arena and draw a massive audience. Conor McGregor is a hard worker, and his love for combat sports would enable him to do great things for professional wrestling if he dedicated himself to it. His UFC journey is a long one, as he is recovering from a knee injury.
