Ajinkya Rahane attempts wild slog against Mohammed Siraj, gets out for a golden duck in GT vs KKR IPL 2026 match 

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for a golden duck in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Friday, April 17. The opening batter attempted a wild heave against Mohammed Siraj in the very first over, but could only find the fielder inside the circle.

Ajinkya Rahane was back at the top of the order after settling into the No.3 role in the recent loss to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Partnering up with Tim Seifert, to forge a new opening pair for the side, KKR could not get the start they were hoping for.

Tim Seifert set the tempo for the innings with a sublime boundary off just his second delivery. Ajinkya Rahane got into strike in the fourth ball of the delivery and was up against Mohammed Siraj and the new ball. The right-arm pacer bowled a loose, full, delivery outside the off stump.

Rahane attempted to play across the line, and slog the delivery through the off-side. However, the bat turned in his hand, and he ended up splicing the ball straight up in the air, without much distance. The last time Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for a duck was during the IPL 2020 campaign, during the clash between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI).

The visitors were reduced to 5-1 in the first over after Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal. They seemed to be on the right track after a series of boundaries against the pacers. However, their troubles continue as Angkrish Raghuvanshi was dismissed for 8 in the next over, as the score reads 21-2.

The uncapped batter nicked a 146 kmph searing delivery from Kagiso Rabada. At the time of writing, the overseas pair of Cameron Green and Tim Seifert are attempting to salvage the powerplay.
