3 Reasons why Paige reportedly re-signed with WWE

WWE WrestleMania 42 is just hours away. This year, Triple H and the creative team have faced major backlash for their booking decisions. But it appears The King of Kings may have a massive surprise up his sleeve for The Granddaddy of Them All.

A report by PWInsider recently indicated that former Divas Champion Paige has re-signed with the Stamford-based promotion. Moreover, the update suggested that The Anti-Diva is all set to return tonight at The Showcase of the Immortals. She is expected to be part of a four-way Women’s Tag Team Championship match.

The four-way tag team bout features the reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions, Lash Legend and Nia Jax, who will be defending their gold against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, Lyra Valkyria and Bayley, and The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella & Brie Bella).

The Fearless One has been dealing with an injury that she sustained on an episode of SmackDown on the Road to WrestleMania. While The Bella Twins have announced that Nikki will be ready for the match, the abovementioned report suggests that Paige will team up with Brie Bella, replacing the Hall of Famer.

In this article, we will explore three reasons why Paige has reportedly re-signed with WWE.

#3. Still has one more run left in her

Upon her debut in World Wrestling Entertainment, Paige quickly gained popularity and became the face of the women’s division. However, everything came crashing down for the former Divas Champion after she sustained a career-ending neck injury in 2017, forcing her to retire from in-ring action.

Following her injury, The Anti-Divas was an on-screen personality for years. The former Divas Champion left the Stamford-based promotion on July 22, 2022. Shockingly, she was medically cleared for an in-ring return in the same year and signed with AEW.

The Anti-Diva ended her All Elite Wrestling stint in 2025 and has been a free agent since then. Her potential return to World Wrestling Entertainment has been a hot topic among fans for months. She was heavily rumored to return to the company at the 2026 Royal Rumble, which did not come to fruition.

In an interview with the Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Paige talked about her absence from the 2026 Royal Rumble. The Glampire revealed that she was open to returning to WWE, but the company didn’t contact her.

“I hope one day I can be a part of it again…’ It was viral as well, and everyone’s just like hoping that I was gonna be in this Rumble, that I finally get to be a part of that, that I’ve always dreamed of being a part of. So yeah, it was incredible. I wish I was part of it but it’s more to it. WWE has to make that decision. Not me (…) Everyone obviously wants me to go back,” Saraya said. (H/T: Fightful)

#2. WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella is injured

The Bella Twins’ WrestleMania appearance is in jeopardy after The Fearless One sustained an ankle injury. On the March 27 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Brie and Nikki Bella faced Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in a tag team match. Nikki twisted her ankle during a sequence in the bout. Since then, the former Women’s Divas Champion has been rehabbing.

On the go-home edition of SmackDown before ‘Mania, The Bella Twins, in a video package, claimed they were coming for the tag team title. But there is a massive chance that general manager Nick Aldis might not allow Nikki to compete on Saturday due to her injury. Brie would need a new tag team partner in that case.

The company might have signed Paige to replace Nikki at ‘Mania. Saraya’s potential return could make up for The Fearless One’s absence from the ‘Mania match.

#1. To add more star power to an already stacked women’s roster

The current WWE women’s roster is undoubtedly the most stacked in all of professional wrestling. From Friday Night SmackDown to Monday Night RAW to NXT, the company has assembled a solid lineup for world-class female competitors.

To strengthen its women’s division even further, the Stamford-based promotion might have signed former Divas Champion Paige, who is a massive fan-favorite and has a lot of potential. She could have dream matches against stars such as Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Jade Cargill. Otherwise, she could revisit some old feuds, having matches with AJ Lee and Nikki Bella, among others.

That said, it will be interesting to see if The Anti-Diva actually returns to the Stamford-based promotion tonight.
