Bangkok, Thailand – The FIVB Level I Coaches Course for Volleyball is underway at the FIVB Development Center in Thailand, bringing together 45 coaches from 14 National Federations for an intensive five-day educational program. The course is being conducted by FIVB Instructor Mr. David Smith, assisted by FIVB Assistant Instructor Mr. Weeramate Phergsongkror.
Participants, including 11 women and 34 men from Canada, England, Hong Kong, China, India, Japan, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Ukraine, the United States of America, and Thailand, are taking part in a program that combines theoretical and practical sessions. The course is designed to provide coaches and physical education teachers with the knowledge and tools needed to teach volleyball fundamentals and develop effective training programs.
The opening ceremony was held on Monday at the FIVB Development Center in Thailand and was jointly presided over by Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA), and Mr. Shanrit Wongprasert, TVA Honorary Life Secretary General. Also in attendance were the course instructors, Mr. Issara Riddhisinha, General Manager of the FIVB Development Center in Thailand, Mr. Songsak Chareonpong, Chairman of the TVA Referee Committee, and all participants.

In his welcome address, Mr. Somporn highlighted the value of the course as an opportunity for coaches to enhance their knowledge under experienced instructors while exchanging ideas and best practices with colleagues from around the world.
“This course presents an excellent opportunity for coaches from different countries to enhance their knowledge under the guidance of Mr. Smith and Mr. Weeramate, both highly experienced and respected volleyball educators. In addition to learning from the instructors, participants will also benefit from sharing experiences, ideas, and best practices with fellow coaches from around the world,” said Mr. Somporn.
“I sincerely wish all participants every success throughout this course and hope that the knowledge and experience gained here will contribute significantly to the development and promotion of volleyball in your respective countries. I am confident that this program will not only enhance your coaching capabilities but also foster lasting friendships and professional relationships among participants.”
He also assured participants of the full support of the FIVB Development Center in Thailand, the Ramkhamhaeng University Sports Office, and the TVA throughout their stay before officially declaring the FIVB Level I Coaches Course open.
