CHONBURI, Thailand — The AVC Beach Volleyball Coaches Course officially opened Monday at the FIVB International Center of Excellence (ICoE) at Sattahip Naval Base, bringing together 23 coaches from six National Federations for a five-day educational program running from July 20 to 24.
Conducted by AVC Instructor Mr. Denis Rovkin of Kazakhstan, the course combines classroom instruction with practical on-court sessions aimed at enhancing coaching knowledge and strengthening the development of beach volleyball across Asia.
The participants, comprising seven women and 16 men from Japan, Mongolia, Singapore, Thailand, Vanuatu, and Vietnam, are taking part in a comprehensive program designed to equip coaches with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to further raise the standard of beach volleyball in their respective countries.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Captain Rachan Kosayakanon, Executive Committee Member of the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) and an officer at Sattahip Naval Base. Also in attendance were TVA Lifetime Honorary Secretary General Mr. Shanrit Wongprasert, General Manager of the FIVB International Center of Excellence in Thailand Mr. Issara Riddhisinha, and AVC Instructor Mr. Denis Rovkin.
In his welcome address, Captain Rachan highlighted Sattahip Naval Base’s long-standing role as the training base for Thailand’s national beach volleyball teams and its world-class facilities, which have supported the development of athletes and coaches over the years.
“I sincerely hope that all participants will gain valuable knowledge and coaching techniques from Mr. Denis Rovkin. I am confident that what you learn here will contribute to the continued growth and development of beach volleyball across Asia,” Captain Rachan said.
He also assured participants of the Naval Base’s full support and hospitality throughout the course before officially declaring the program open.
The AVC Beach Volleyball Coaches Course forms part of the Confederation’s continuing commitment to coach education and capacity building, providing National Federations with opportunities to develop qualified coaches and strengthen the foundation of beach volleyball throughout the region.
