Big E, Charlotte Flair, Seth Rollins & others react to Xavier Woods confirming his WWE exit after 16 years

The New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston shockingly departed WWE on May 2, 2026. It marked the end of a highly successful 12-year run for the faction in the Stamford-based company.

Recent reports indicated that WWE and The New Day mutually parted ways. The two parties reached the decision after Woods and Kingston allegedly refused to restructure their deals and take pay cuts. The duo’s exit caught the wrestling world off guard because many believed they were WWE lifers.

Xavier Woods recently broke his silence on his departure. He reflected on his 16-year tenure with the company and thanked several people for supporting him in his career. Going by his message, Woods seemed confident heading into a new chapter of his professional life.

Woods’ heartfelt post received reactions from several WWE Superstars and pro wrestling personalities. Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Matt Cardona, Big E, Renee Paquette, The Miz, and Natalya, among others, commented on the 39-year-old’s post. Xavier Woods won several championships in the sports entertainment juggernaut, including the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Titles. In 2021, he reigned supreme in the prestigious King of the Ring Tournament. Last year at WrestleMania 41, Woods and Kingston captured the World Tag Team Championship, marking their final title run with the company.

Kofi Kingston also confirmed his WWE exit with an emotional message

After WrestleMania 42, WWE released more than 20 superstars. Fan-favorite wrestlers like Aleister Black, The Wyatt Sicks, and Kairi Sane, among others, were let go by the company. However, The New Day’s situation was different, as their exit was reportedly a mutual decision.

Kofi Kingston recently confirmed the end of his illustrious 18-year run with the global juggernaut. He looked back on his memorable journey with the promotion and thanked his supporters. Kingston also asked his followers never to underestimate their worth.

“Do your best to live a life without regrets, control what you can control, always give it your all, and fight hard for what you believe in. Do not ever compromise or accept less than your due when it comes to your worth,” an excerpt from Kingston’s farewell message read.

The New Day was among the most decorated and experienced teams in World Wrestling Entertainment. The company will surely feel their absence following their unexpected departure.
