Big money Salah heir ready to move to Liverpool

Arne Slot‘s second season at Liverpool has not been easy, but it looks like third time could be the charm for the under-fire head coach, who has FSG’s backing ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now there’s a decision that will split opinion. On one hand, Slot won the Premier League last season, confidently dispatching his opponents, outthinking and outfighting his managerial counterparts.

Unclench the other first, though, and you will find a calamitous campaign that will not yield silverware and could only secure a place in next year’s Champions League proper due to the inconsistencies of their rivals and a qualifying extension to fifth place due to co-efficient rankings.

In short, Liverpool have not been at the races this season, and if Slot is to lead a successful revival, he will need FSG to provide him with the perfect Mohamed Salah replacement this summer.

No pressure then.

Liverpool meeting family of top summer target

Liverpool are set to keep onto Slot, which means that, for better or for worse, it will be easier to strategise ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. That season will be crucial for the coach, who will need a fast start to appease the Reds persuasion.

With Hugo Ekitike sidelined for (probably) the rest of the calendar year, Alexander Isak needs to start repaying the record-breaking £125m deal that saw him join from Newcastle United last summer. Salah’s departure only accentuates that.

But he will need support, and it could come in the form of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, who has been in inspired form for the Germans this season.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are accelerating talks to sign the 20-year-old, and it’s understood that personal terms will not be an issue, with the player eager to make the move to Merseyside.

RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande

Diomande has been valued at around £87m by his employers, who do not want to sell but may be powerless against Liverpool’s financial might.

The winger might be a boyhood Reds fan, but the likes of Arsenal are also showing strong interest.

Why Isak would love Diomande at Liverpool

Diomande is young, but they that when you’re good enough, you’re old enough, and the Ivory Coast international is already thriving in the Bundesliga.

Across all competitions this season, he has scored 13 goals and supplied eight assists across 32 appearances, but it is his pace and energy and roundedness that would see him make such a difference in Salah’s place on the right wing.

Such a high-octane attacking outlet could make all the difference, potentially unlocking Isak’s world-class quality, dormant since his arrival last year.

Once, Diomande was known by few, but those who saw the youth player in action were dazzled by his potential. He was “unstoppable even then“, said journalist Bence Bocsak.

He’s only gotten better, and his pace and commitment to the cause is similar to Anthony Gordon at Newcastle. This is a player Liverpool are interested in, but Diomande would be the better pick, still providing Isak with a support act of a certain style, enhancing his skillset.

Diomande is still developing, but he’s already shown he has what it takes to thrive in the Premier League, and his chances of achieving this will increase tenfold with a confident and sharp Isak at number nine.

Yan Diomande for RB Leipzig

Diomande cannot be expected to waltz into Anfield and perform with a prolificness that rivals Salah in his heyday. He is five years younger than the Egyptian was when he joined from Roma.

But Diomande could impress from the off, in his own way. Alongside Isak, this could be the start of something special for a Liverpool side desperate to step back into the limelight.
