Fans didn’t show WWE superstar Cody Rhodes any mercy after his epic fail. Rhodes has had a rough last few weeks in WWE. The 41-year-old star lost the Undisputed Championship to Sami Zayn at Night of Champions and was attacked by Gunther ahead of his No. 1 contender’s match on RAW.
Still, he has a chance to get his hands back on gold when he faces the new WWE Champion CM Punk at SummerSlam. While there is no doubt about his in-ring ability and charisma, the same cannot be said, perhaps, for his football skills.
Thanks for the submission!
The American Nightmare was a part of the Fanatics Fest in New York City. The event has seen a number of WWE stars appear, and fans were excited to see Rhodes make an appearance.
But the former three-time WWE Champion was left red-faced after a moment of epic fail. Rhodes went viral after a video of him attempting to kick a field goal was shared on social media. In the video, he has multiple attempts at place-kicking but barely gets the ball to float.
Instead, the ball is seen trudging off each time, with Rhodes getting ready for another attempt.
This video left the fans on social media unimpressed, and they were quick to question how an athlete like him could not make a proper connection with the ball and get a punt right.
“That’s embarrassing,” a fan simply wrote.
@FadeAwayMedia That’s embarrassing.
Another fan went one step further, saying Stephen Hawking could have done a better job than Cody Rhodes.
“Erm.. what the f*ck? Stephen Hawking could do a better job. Still,” they wrote.
Fans continued to bash Rhodes in the comments and didn’t let up. You can check more reactions below:
@FadeAwayMedia Just lost all his aura
@FadeAwayMedia he’s moving like he has old man legs…..
@FadeAwayMedia This the guy we’re calling QB1?
@FadeAwayMedia “This guy stinks”
@FadeAwayMedia He’s just showing he’s nothing without HHH pushing him. That’s his ring ability summed up in one punt 😂😂
Major stipulation added to Cody Rhodes’ tag team match at Saturday Night’s Main Event
At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk will team up to take on Sami Zayn and Gunther. A day before the event, the Ring General came out to open SmackDown and said he wants to be in a Championship match.
This led to interim SmackDown general manager Adam Pearce coming out and revealing that the tag team match SNME will have a major stipulation.
Pearce said that if he and Zayn win the match, they will be added to the WWE Championship match between Punk and Rhodes at SummerSlam, making it a Fatal 4-Way.
