Team India experienced a historic, record-breaking tenth day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday, August 1. Highlighted by seven gold medals in the boxing ring, a glorious 1-2 finish in para-athletics, and stellar podium finishes in track and field, the Indian contingent enjoyed its most decorated single-day outing of the Games. India’s medal tally increases to 39 and they jump to fourth position in the overall standings.

Boxing: India dominates with unprecedented seven gold medals and three silvers at Commonwealth Games
India’s pugilists delivered a masterclass at the arena, winning seven of their ten gold medal matches to cap off an incredible boxing campaign.
Women boxing stars sweep top honors
In the women’s boxing division, Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg) got the gold rush started with a relentless 5-0 unanimous decision victory. Preeti Pawar (54kg) followed suit, dominating her final bout to secure India’s second gold in the ring.
Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) and Priya Ghanghas (60kg) delivered clinical performances to claim gold in their respective weight classes, before Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) completed a dominant run with a commanding victory in her final. Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) put up a brave fight but settled for a hard-fought silver medal.
Men boxers seal golden triumphs
In the men’s weight categories, Sachin Siwach (60kg) and Ankush Panghal (80kg) put on tactical masterclasses to bag gold medals in their respective clashes.
Meanwhile, Jadumani Singh (55kg) and super-heavyweight Narender Berwal (90+kg) finished their memorable campaigns with silver medals following close-margin losses in their title bouts.
Track & field: Praveen Chithravel and Gulveer Singh double India’s joy at Commonwealth Games
At Hampden Park, national star Praveen Chithravel produced a clutch jump of 16.58m to clinch the silver medal in the men’s triple jump final. Joining him on the podium was youngster Selva Prabhu Thirumaran, who landed a mark of 16.52m to secure the bronze medal and complete a 2-3 finish for India.
Distance runner Gulveer Singh delivered an extraordinary performance in the men’s 5,000m final, crossing the finish line in third place to claim a historic bronze medal. This marked Gulveer’s second medal of the Games, following his silver-medal run in the 10,000m event earlier in the week.
Pole vaulters and Judo wrap up late Commonwealth Games session
In the final event of the evening, national record holder Dev Kumar Meena and teammate Kuldeep Kumar represented India in the men’s pole vault final. Both athletes cleared the 5.10m mark on their opening attempts before bowing out at higher height bars.
Building on India’s historic judo campaign in Glasgow, Unnati Sharma captured the bronze medal in the women’s 63kg category. Unnati fought back through the repechage rounds to seal a podium finish and bring India’s total judo medal count for the Games to four.
Para-athletics: Soman Rana and Shubham Juyal secure golden 1-2 finish at Commonwealth Games 2026
In the men’s shot put F57 final, Indian throwers produced a memorable 1-2 finish. Soman Rana launched a sensational throw to win the gold medal, while teammate Shubham Juyal bagged the silver medal to complete a glorious double for the nation.
