New York Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter shared the locker room for almost a decade. Rodriguez discussed a controversial photoshoot with the former Yankees captain during their playing days.
Rodriguez and Jeter posed shirtless for a Sports Illustrated photoshoot in 1997. Rodriguez, who was with the Texas Rangers at the time, revealed that the photoshoot was Jeter’s idea.
“I think that was Derek’s idea,” Rodriguez said. “We looked like Menudo. It was a dark moment.”

Apart from Jeter and Rodriguez, Edgar Renteria, Alex Gonzalez and Rey Ordóñez also posed shirtless, wearing baseball pants and gold chains for the photoshoot. A-Rod and Jeter were part of the Yankees’ last World Series win in 2009.
The Yankees duo had a fractured relationship during their playing days but made amends following their retirement. They feature for MLB on Fox along with Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz.

Earlier this month, the three-time MVP celebrated his 51st birthday with girlfriend Meghan Hayden. The former Yankees infielder started dating Hayden this year after his split with fitness model Jaclyn Cordeiro.
Cordeiro and Rodriguez dated for three years before their split in March. The fitness influencer had told TMZ in May that the duo was taking “some time apart.”
“Alex and I are currently taking some time apart, but there continues to be mutual love, care and deep respect between us and for our families,” she said. “We remain supportive of one another, and there is absolutely no animosity, drama or negative story here.”
Rumors of Rodriguez’s relationship with Hayden sparked after she was spotted kissing the Yankees legend at Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin’s White Party on July 1.
Hayden, who is a private fitness coach and a former Division I soccer player, has reportedly moved in with Rodriguez in the Hamptons. They have been spotted in the Hamptons together over the last few weeks.
