Liverpool are now planning a move for Brighton star Yankuba Minteh next year, with AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara also of interest after his move to Chelsea fell through.
FSG made a statement of intent by signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in a £123m deal, with the Frenchman becoming the third-most expensive signing in the Premier League, but the Reds failed to strengthen on the opposite flank.
It wasn’t for a lack of trying, and there were suggestions Minteh could make a move to Anfield on deadline day, but it wasn’t to be, with Andoni Iraola‘s side seemingly unwilling to fork out the Seagulls’ high asking price of £70m.
Fans may be disappointed to have missed out on the right-winger though, considering he is tried and tested in the Premier League, picking up nine goals and eight assists in 66 matches in the competition for Brighton.
Even when he hasn’t been on the scoresheet, the 22-year-old has managed to impress, with journalist Ryan Adsett saying after Brighton’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in April: “Minteh was unbelievable again. Work horse and pure quality every week. Our best player today.”
With Iraola short on natural right-wingers, given that a like-for-like replacement for Mohamed Salah is still yet to be brought in, Minteh could be a solid signing for the Reds, and they may not be ready to give up on their pursuit.

Liverpool could revisit move for Yankuba Minteh in January
As per Football FanCast sources, Liverpool could revisit a move for Minteh in the January transfer window, depending on how they fare during the first half of the Premier League season.
It is believed the Brighton winger would be open to a move to Anfield, as he is looking to take the next step in his career, but he remains under contract with his current club until 2029 and will not force through an exit.
Right-wing isn’t the only position in which the Reds are looking to strengthen either, with journalist Ben Jacobs revealing they made calls to inform Camara’s agents of their desire to sign him in 2027.
Jacobs said: “Liverpool made a call this evening, and more than one I am told, to say the camp of Camara wait, and to say to Monaco wait, because Liverpool don’t want Lamine Camara now, Alexis MacAllister is still at the club, Liverpool said to Monaco, ‘wait’.
“To be clear, so this is not taken out of context, we’re not saying Liverpool interfered in the deal relating to Chelsea, we are saying all day, Liverpool said to Monaco and Camara, ‘if you do not get your move, we will be back for you potentially in 2027’.”
