The Italian and Savio started dating shortly after she finished college in Australia in 2022. After three years of dating, the duo got engaged last year, in September 2025. Matteo Arnaldi’s parents and early life
Matteo Arnaldi was born on 22 February 2001 in Sanremo, Italy, to father Luciano and mother Paola Arnaldi. In his early life, the Italian was deeply split between swimming and tennis, with his father being a well-known competitive swimmer in his country. Up until the age of 11, Arnaldi took part in competitive swimming but eventually found the sport “boring” compared to the thrilling energy of tennis.
Matteo Arnaldi’s tennis career
The 25-year-old grew up training in Tennis Sanremo all year round in the initial years of his life. After he climbed the junior ranks, he transitioned to pro tennis in 2019. He was a part of the winning Italian team for the 2023 Davis Cup. In 2023, after bagging his third Challenger title win at the Murcia Open, he reached his career-high ATP ranking of 102 in April 2023. Since then, the Italian has qualified for the ATP 500 Barcelona Open and won the first round against Jaume Munar. Subsequently, he also qualified for the Madrid Open and marked his first top-10 win against Casper Rudd, and reached the ATP ranking of 99.
In 2024, Arnaldi defeated wild-card entrant Adam Walton at the Australian Open. At the Barcelona Open, he reached the quarterfinals by outmatching Arthur Cazaux. In the French Open 2024, he emerged victorious against Andrey Rublev to reach the fourth round for the first time at an ATP Major tournament.
In 2025, at the Dallas Open, he lost to Jaume Munar in the quarterfinals. In Indian Wells, Arnaldi overcame the third round by beating Brandon Nakashima. In April at the Madrid Open, he defeated 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic but eventually lost to the fifth seed, Jack Draper.
In 2026, Arnaldi entered the Monte-Carlo Masters, the main draw as a lucky loser, but lost in the first round. In the Sardinia Open, he won his first ATP Challenger since 2023 by beating Hubert Hurkacz in the final.

Arnaldi initially coached with Matteo Civarolo, who helped him with his transition to the professional tour. He also trained with Alessandro Petrone in his early career development. Currently, the Italian is getting coached by Fabio Colangelo and Matteo Civarolo.

Arnaldi is currently ranked World No. 104 in the ATP Singles. He will face fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals of the French Open. With Arnaldi, Berrettini, and also Flavio Cobolli, it is the first time that three Italian men have reached the last eight of the same Grand Slam tournament.
