NFL fans react as disgraced attorney questions Chicago Bears on losing out on Soldier Field stadium

The Chicago Bears had one of the best 16-month runs since the franchise entered the 21st century. Landing Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams’ ascendance, a playoff win plus getting on the cover of Madden 27 signalled a changing tide in Chicago.

However, some Bears fans might have taken it all back if they could trade it for what happened in June, with Chicago now seemingly on the precipice of jumping state lines.

In the wake of the bombshell revelation that the Bears are on pace to move to Indiana, many cried out, including Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels’ former lawyer. Avenatti raised the biggest question of them all in a post on X on Friday.

“How the f**k did Chicago manage to lose the Bears?” he posted.

Fans responded to the post in droves. Many called him out as the former lawyer continues to serve out a prison sentence through 2028 for a litany of charges, including theft and extortion.

“Same way you wound up in prison. They’re stupid,” one posted.

“Same way you lost your career,” another added.

“How the f**k did a lawyer manage to get locked up 😆,” one replied.

Some fans responded to Avenatti’s post to answer the question he posed with their own assessments and speculation.

“Ask the mayor! 🤣,” one joked.

“Failed democrat leadership and policies! Next question,” another accused.

“The worst governor in the country coupled with a moron Democratic mayor in the city of Chicago,” one responded.

Of course, the real answer could take months or years to understand where and how things went wrong.

While the move across state lines to Indiana is a big change for the Chicago Bears, the change might not be quite as big a move as some have made it out to be. While some teams like the St. Louis Rams have moved nearly 2,000 miles to Los Angeles, the Bears will remain within driving distance.

The site of the new stadium is projected to be in Hammond, Indiana, which is roughly 25 miles away from Soldier Field or about a 40-minute drive. Of course, the exact final location of the field is reportedly not finalized, per a June 5 ESPN report.

Still, such a move has raised questions as to whether the Chicago Bears will retain their name. History shows the team will keep its name.

The NFL has plenty of precedents pointing to this. The New York Giants and New York Jets both play at MetLife Stadium, located in New Jersey, across the Hudson River from New York State.

Will Chicago buck the trend?
