Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson stated his love for the city of Cleveland and his openness to remaining with the franchise. He stated this while chatting with the press at the Browns’ training camp on Friday, sending a clear message on his future in Cleveland.
Despite years marred by injuries, suspension, and fan frustration, the quarterback clarified that he holds no ill will toward the city.

“I don’t have no bad feelings towards Cleveland,” Watson declared. “I love Cleveland. Me and my wife, we got our house on the East Side, so we here all the time. We were here this summer. If you ask around, I’m at pretty much all the restaurants, I’m hanging out, so I haven’t had a bad experience outside of, you know, just different times in the stadium.

“But again, I I don’t know why that narrative is out there that people thinking that I don’t like Cleveland. Me and my family, we’ve been enjoying it. We’ve been enjoying our time here, and yeah, that that if the opportunity shows up, then we’ll we’ll see where it goes.”

What is at stake for Deshaun Watson going into a new season?
Deshaun Watson is entering the final year of his historic five-year fully guaranteed $230 million deal with the Browns. However, his Cleveland stint has been defined by lingering injury setbacks. These include a shoulder injury in 2023 and a torn Achilles in Oct. 2024 that made him miss the entire 2025 season.
In all, Deshaun Watson has appeared in just 19 out of 69 possible games over four seasons. Going into the new season, he will not be handed the starting job on a platter. He will have to convince Todd Monken over the coming weeks that he’s a better choice than Shedeur Sanders.
